Little reflection

Past couple of weeks have included quite a few situations where people get to know eachother through games, which reaffirms my love for building community through games.

I´ve just signed up for my classes for next semester at Chico, all recreation which is pretty sweet. I just love what I´m going to be able to do with therapeutic recreation-.
Situation 1: I spent today with my exchange program playing team building games and laughing alot. It reminded me of how games really do bring people from all cultures together, just beautiful:)

Situation 2: When we were in Puerto viejo we got to know a group of ticos through a simple game of double 0 seven( if you don´t know this game next time I see you do ask it´s really quite fun. We ended up spending the rest of the time there with them, fun fun.

Situation 3:When I was on the boat to tortuguero I made friends with the man sitting beside me( he was a Costa Rican traveling business man who provides lighting for touristy areas)When I told him what I was studying he asked me about what to do about his nephew who had autism and would get scared because of little things- now I don´t know if I really gave him good advice but I had a general idea- through the conversation I realized that I loved helping him in that small way. It´s a vision of being able to include all people, and empower them too. So yes I`m pretty stoked with my major and where it´s going to take me.

  1. Yay for games! I'm curious to know how to explain your major in Spanish. What did you tell the guy to do for his autistic son?

  3. I shadowed an occupation therapist once in a classroom and she said that some kids who are autistic enjoy texture, so I told the man to give his nephew some sort of squishy ball(or anything with fun texture) because it would help him focus on something other than what was scaring him.
