Winter in the Mountain

Spent a week living in the snow. Was warm, well fed, and hydrated....almost all the time. It is quite the experience when you are standing in the middle of a snow storm with cold wind wipping around you and you're toasty.

We spent a total of nine nights living in a quinzee. During the day we took day trips to learn how to telemark turn down a hill, then side step up to go down again. Other days we learned how to perform stability tests to seet if the slopes are safe to ski avalanche wise.

We spent three of our days in Kirkwood. Had telemark lessons in the morning and free time to roam in the afternoon. My skiing buddy and myself had our fare share of green and blue runs, and a couple of accidental black runs.

It was an amazingy trip. Intense in the good and the bad. So if you want to go sometime let me know and let's take a trip!
